Saw this briefly, installed on a Glowworm boiler, what is the orange graduated knob for?, the arrow above it is pointing downwards but if the M.filter is on the return then the flow will be upwards.

I learn something new every day, if you click on the image (post #1) then right click to bring up the menu then select "image wih google" (google lens) it identifies it as a BI-World M.Filter, the orange knob is a Servicing Date Wheel.

As it’s 12 graduations and looks a “dumb” knob, I’d guess it’s used to indicate which month service is due- as simple as that !!

Recently had a Viessmann Vitodens combi boiler installed, quite often when the adjacent cold mixer tap is opened the boiler starts for a few seconds! Can anyone tell me what is causing this? And how to cure?

Can anyone recommend a decent multi meter, preferably under a 100 pounds. It's for checking boiler components so I don't need a top spec one ....just easy to use and reliable. The fluke 115 looks good but its above my budget. My current socket and see one was great but it's developed a fault.

Every two weeks or so I have to go and top up the system because the hot taps are running cold. Boiler display is flashing 0.6 bar and I fill up to 1.3. I've had an engineer look inside the boiler and he can't see anything wrong. I've checked the pipes all over the house and cannot see any...
