sludge
Sludge is a semi-solid slurry that can be produced from a range of industrial processes, from water treatment, wastewater treatment or on-site sanitation systems. For example, it can be produced as a settled suspension obtained from conventional drinking water treatment, as sewage sludge from wastewater treatment processes: 23–25 or as fecal sludge from pit latrines and septic tanks. The term is also sometimes used as a generic term for solids separated from suspension in a liquid; this 'soupy' material usually contains significant quantities of 'interstitial' water (between the solid particles). Sludge can consist of a variety of particles, such as animal manure.Industrial wastewater treatment plants produce solids that are also referred to as sludge. This can be generated from biological or physical-chemical processes.
In the activated sludge process for wastewater treatment, the terms "waste activated sludge" and "return activated sludge" are used.
In food processing and beverage-making industries, sludge can have high protein content and other nutrients that can be used for beneficial purposes such as animal feed, thereby avoiding disposal at a landfill.

Hi,
I have oil fired central heating and have found that our radiators our not heating correctly i.e. hot at the top, cold at the bottom. I think this is caused by rust sludge gathering at the bottom of almost all the radiators.
Question: what is the best way to clean away the sludge...

Hi,
My parents have a megaflow 125 unvented cylinder and when it came to replace the last bottom immersion heater (about 9 months ago) it was noted that there was a lot of sludge building up in the bottom.
The same immersion heater has not gone again and needs replacing. Is it possible...
Anyone used the Adey Magancleanse kit? Looks a decent bit of kit if it does what it says. Cant find a price online tho! Looks better than a bulky pain in the bum power flush machine imo
So you just bought or moved into the house, switched on the heating, and only some radiators are completely hot, while others are lukewarm with coldspots in the middle, and the gas/oil bill was massive while most rooms are struggling to reach even 18C and pose a heath risk? The previous...
Hi All
We have got a luke warm radiator in one of our upstairs bedrooms. I have tried bleeding it and also turning other radiators down and turning this one to max but it never gets really hot.

I have done a power flush and the mis said to run boiler at around 50degrees. However, when i turned it on it banged and rattled and then shut down. Is this due to flow or what? Any ideas would help.
Hello All, I have a problem with my boiler (Heatline S24 Combi), and posted about it awhile ago. I now have some more specifics, and i'm hoping someone can ID the possible problem. The boiler has been cutting in and out, with the flame trying to relight, not producing enough heat for all...
hi lads, went to a Worcester Greenstar HE. Z28 system boiler showing EA, client had disconnected the condensate pipe work but still kept failing, I removed the cond. trap and emptied out at least 1/2 inch of sludge, which was of the consistency of magnetite, when you scrape it off a...
Just wondering which cleansers / sludge removers we all swear by? I know everyone will have a different opinion but just trying to gauge an overall view.
