balancing
In computing, load balancing refers to the process of distributing a set of tasks over a set of resources (computing units), with the aim of making their overall processing more efficient. Load balancing can optimize the response time and avoid unevenly overloading some compute nodes while other compute nodes are left idle.
Load balancing is the subject of research in the field of parallel computers. Two main approaches exist: static algorithms, which do not take into account the state of the different machines, and dynamic algorithms, which are usually more general and more efficient, but require exchanges of information between the different computing units, at the risk of a loss of efficiency.
Hi Everyone!
I just need a bit of advice on balancing radiators after managing to get 1 cold rad working, i'm just a general DIY'er hence the need for professional feedback.
Initially i had 1 cold rad in Utility room toward rear of house, no matter what i did i could not get this to work, also...
Whether it be the usual gate valve or the more correct lockshield valve.
Jennie raised a point elsewhere on this forum and someone mentioned the purpose of these being 'by reducing the flow, the coil will remain hotter longer. Thus heating the water quicker'.
Makes no sense to me as reducing...
Since drain and refill of our gravity fed system I cannot get heat to alot of the downstairs rads. One downstairs rad is boiling but turning that off doesn't have any positive effect.
Most of the upstairs get nice and warm but if I turn off all of the upstairs rads then the boiler simply turns...
I noticed that Rob gave someone some 'advice' on balancing their system. However it was rather 'quick and dirty' in my opinion.
Is it worth creating a definitive guide that we could refer people to rather than have to type the same stuff over and over?
To be honest there could be yet another...
HI All
Just had a new boiler fitted and have since noticed one radiator out of five is not getting as hot as others. I think it is last on a run as pipework comes from first floor (bedroom) to ground floor (living room).
I read up on balancing radiators only to find only the radiator...
Im going to balance my radiators because some are struggling, but I would like to understand the calc better.
I have a central 22m supply and return pipe running from far left of house to far right of house through first floor joists, Boiler is at far left, pump is near boiler on supply pipe. I...
Hi all,
Where should these be placed on a commercial hot water system? As close as possible to the end of the return leg closest to the outlet? Which is the correct way to do it on a commercial installation, option 1 or option 2 in the link?
Please explain why so I can understand...
Worcester Combi 24 cdi . 7 Radiators. No TRV's. Testing system prior to winter. Radiators 1-3 upstairs get very hot in a few minutes. Radiator 4 downstairs in lounge hots up a few mins later. Radiator 5 on other side of lounge gets just about OK, Radiators 6 (in extension) added a few years...
Hi all, just moved into a new house (new for me, not brand new), and having a few issues with the central heating system. The bloke I was buying the house off did mention that sometimes the upstairs rads get hot, sometimes they dont. I was hoping it would just be a case of balancing the rads, or...

I am thinking of balancing my heating system. On my landing there is a room stat with a radiator opposite. Does this radiator need balancing too or should the valves be fully open?
Have a Worcester 30i with new rads bar 2, magna clean and descale fitter but bar 2 rads all others are hot at top but much cooler at the bottom.
Any ideas what it could be?
Google seems to suggest sludge or balancing rads and am erring towards latter as sludge would not be issue in the...

Hi Guys,
I'm a DIY-er, I've replaced a couple of rads in the house before, and fitted new TVRs on all the rads. So I'd like to think I have some idea about what I'm doing :whatchutalkingabout
I replaced the rad in the lounge on the ground floor over the summer. New one is a column type, so...

Hi guys,
Been a long time reader on this site so I thought I'd get some opinions on this system as I know there's a lot of knowledge and experience floating about on here.
I've been in the trade for 12 years now, gas safe for 6 years, unvented and all the NVQ's etc etc and employ a couple of...

So, the DeLonghi towel radiator I got was a crock; swarf overpainted and the thread wouldn't take a valve; so I've been getting a few prices from all the usuals but not sure what to go for. It'll be a 1500/1600x500 curved in white.
City Plumbing suggested a brand I've never heard of called...
I know the base theory behind balancing, (30 years since I last balanced a system) .. all system installed since are Underfloor Heating.
Now this is based on having an index rad (usually furthest away) crank that lockshield & control head open, and close all other to 1/4 turn open.
Adjust index...
the common methodology in use on most sites.
Tools needed: whatever you can find from the van
Method: fill her up, turn it on, are most of the rads warm, yeah bugger off and find a coffee n biscuits. :)
How To Balance Radiators
Tool List:
Radiator-bleeding key
Lockshield valve adjuster or adjustable spanner
Screwdriver
Digital thermometer or multimeter with thermometer function
1. Make sure all the radiators have been bled. Turn off the central heating and allow the radiators...

Hey guys
I'm trying to Balance my heating system to get the best out of it but looking for some advice.
I've gone round and opened the lockshield to give 12 degrees between flow and return pipes and seems plenty of heats coming off the rads
Then once it's all cooled down turned the heating...
I've recently fit a new vertical radiator and I'm having problems with it.
When most of the radiators are on in the house the new vertical one doesn't get anywhere near as hot as it should and is noticeably warmer at the top than the bottom.
When I turn off all radiators except the vertical...
