Hi, I have been trying to fit a replacement diverter valve this afternoon. Deep joy.

i can get it in place, all the threaded unions seat up nicely, but the pipe with o ring that pushes down into a vertical receiver pipe is weeping? Tried packing it with grease, but no joy and don't want to use Fernox LS-X

Any suggestions welcome.

And just to cap it off, the cold water feed for the hot water isolation valve won't fully shut off so it is dripping....

Welcome to the world of Alpha!

use new seals and lots of silicone grease!

This plumbing forum will not provide advice to anybody with regards to boiler repairs or any other form of gas plumbing without you first providing us with your Gas Safe Registration number in a thread - for very obvious reasons. If you're not qualified to touch gas, you should stay well clear of trying to!

Oh well hope you carried out all the legal requirements of Gas safety installation and use regulations. After all you just posted on a public forum that you have performed WORK on a gas appliance and your not qualified to check. I wouldn't be too surprised if capita - the company running gas safe tracked your IP and sent you a fine, after all they are allowed to, thinks it's about £25,000 or 4 years in prison.

Thanks for that most informative reply.

Given that the last time I had a diverter valve fitted by my Gas Safe engineer, he said to me that I was perfectly entitled to do the job next time as I wasn't working on the gas side..... So that's what I've done.

The rest of this quote has been deleted because I can.

cheers

pleb.

Our kitchen mixer tap has started dripping. Like so much of the plumbing in our almost new build bungalow, it is lacking! The plumber didn't install any isolating cocks in the H&C feed to the tap so how can I identify which of the valves is passing? Shut the whole H&C water system down?

Hi all I'm hoping someone can shine a light on this for me Since our stop tap on the pavement has now been filled with sand for whatever reason, we are relying on our property fitted stopcock (this is outside on our garage wall) Unfortunately turning this to the closed position only reduces...

I want to reconnect some outbuildings to an existing water supply. The supply pipe is old 22mm MDPE and buried for a fair distance so not going to dig it up and replace it 😬. Question is can I use normal 22mm plumbing push-fit connectors to make the connection as finding 22mm MDPE fittings...

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...

We run a community village hall and have a large kitchen provided for the use of hirers. This includes a Lincat SLR9 gas cooker which I believe is a 23.8Kw appliance with all six burners and oven on max. This was installed some 10 years ago and has passed all subsequent Gas Safety inspections as...
