What do people generally prefer to do in this situation. Old boiler with square flue off the wall and new boiler in same place. Do you use a non combustible board or block up with rapid set cement or any other tricks I don't know about.
thanks

Ask your engineer - he will know.
It sounds like your considering doing it yourself ???
You wont get help if thats the case.

The best trick we know is protecting people from themselves by not giving advice in certain circumstances.

Hes gas safe registered mate :)

Cheers for that Phil - very insightful
ask your engineer?
i wasn't asking for instruction or guidance, just people's opinion

Rapid set mortar & a breeze block if your in a rush, these are nice & easy to cut to size! I do the outside on completion & take a lol more time with that.

Ahh my bad, it doesnt say hes gas safe anywhere.
And looking at his limited posts hes been told before a few times for fishing for gas safe advice.
2 + 2 fishing + how to hang a boiler. .. = 5 obviously lol

Why doesnt it state hes gas safe ?
Possibly should be on gs forum ?

Accept appologies - sure you understand

It does under his name the yellow box saying gs registered, the same one you have under your name :)

I find its all down to prior planning and some bricks n mortar, leave it all to set on a friday, render the inside wall on Monday and core out a new flue hole, looks more professional than bodging over a hole with board, normally the customer appreciates a proper finish inside and out.

most boilers can go straight on to ply nowdays so thats the quickest way. lame it would be nice to get two days to do a boiler change

Agree with Steve. No customer cares what's behind the boiler. Bit of ply to hang the boiler on, take your time making the outside look as close to original wall as possible. I always try and match the original bricks if possible.

Depends on time frame for me. Lightwight blocks and rapid cement or a bit of ply and block up from outside.

rush rush rush, the youth of today doesnt understand the art of earning money :), 2 days, what about the 3rd day for explaining controls, final flush and commissioning , no wonder you lot charge less than me :)

I don't like the boiler on ply idea!! Must look rough! I would much rather fill in the hole & hang the boiler on the wall!!!

Hello, I am seeking some advice, I have a POTTERTON PROMAX 28 COMBI Boiler and I noticed yesterday that the water around the house is no longer warming up. The heat exchanger has been changed 6 months ago, so I do not believe it is that. Does anyone have any ideas on what it could be? Thanks

We run a community village hall and have a large kitchen provided for the use of hirers. This includes a Lincat SLR9 gas cooker which I believe is a 23.8Kw appliance with all six burners and oven on max. This was installed some 10 years ago and has passed all subsequent Gas Safety inspections as...

Hello all, I’m replacing a concrete paving slab patio in the back yard. The original patio used 50mm deep concrete slabs on hardcore & sand. I’m planning to pour a 100mm deep concrete patio on 100mm hardcore. In order to achieve the same final height to line up with the rest of the patio, I...
