Thanks for looking at my latest wet-room, hope you like the pics. If any bathroom fitters who have always been apprehensive of fitting wet-rooms would like some advice, and info on free training available feel free to PM me. Have lots of other wet-rooms I have installed some on my album page and more which I will upload soon. Fitting a wetroom is like fitting a shower unit that wont leak. "as long as you know what your doing" lol

Looks great, what boards have you used on the walls and ceiling? And what tanking kit is the brown stuff? How long did this take?

I don't use other trades, Ive tried it in the past and found it just doesn't work for me.
I'm a Qualified plumber and electrician, and picked up the tiling and joinery work over the last 20yrs or so.

Re-boarded using moisture proof plaster boards, weight of tiles was too much to tile onto skimmed walls and tanking kit used was from Ardex.

As a plumber I find wetrooms a complete nightmare. Whilst the work youve done looks extremely professional most of what I come across has been thrown in without any consideration for longevity of the wetroom by builders or people who havnt a clue. Sadest thing is telling customers their floor needs ripping out along with most if not all tiles in the bathroom only 2 years after its been put in.

And one question I always ask myself is why on earth would you have them put in. It looks neat thats about it. There are low profile trays if you are disabled so a perfect substitute. The risk associated with these is so great I wouldnt ever recomend putting one in. This is the kind of work I come across very often. Ply cut into 3 sections, huge gaps between them and all three move independantly. Huge stone tiles that never been sealed.

This really is one job that needs to be left to a specialist.

If all wetrooms were fitted like the pic you posted I would agree with your comments. However the guy that carried out that install makes me think that him fitting a shower tray wouldn't have been any better.

Looks really nice, how o you work out the tile angle cuts for the trays as they look really neat and even, all of my customers who have wet rooms have always gone with mosaics in the floor

The wetroom former was Impey Linear which make it a bit easier when using large format tiles. The hard bit is using the same tile so the pattern runs through the cut edges. It helps to have a good wet cutter with a fine cut blade.

good stuff, obviously its personal preference but only thing i dont like about it is its the same tiles on floor and walls and the way the vertical wall lines up with the main lines on the floor, just makes it look abit simple..

Fair point, you can only fit what the customer wants, It does help that the other end of the bathroom has no tiles on the walls

I know a lot of plumbers have a lot to say about John guest pipework but a lot of shower manufacturers recommend it over copper and because I drilled the joists rather than notch them it seemed the logical choice. well for me any way.
